Artist's Comments

Originally done in June 2004.

Tao. A complete ideal built from the ground up much like the Suns of Icarus. Thumbnailed and developed. I was pleased with the planets from Siblings and wanted to utilize the lighting structure that was there already so I basically reopened Siblings and worked its objects into new ideas. I worked with two new ideas I had only messed with playfully in experiments past. City Lights and dual lighting. While there is something to be said about scale I believe the image speaks nonetheless if it can be taken in the manner it was created and not analyized for fault.

Again Justin's music played an major role in this work. The track is entitled "Looking to the Future" and can be listened to here [link] in the "Piano" section. I began to listen to the track and the idea formed. I took the original ship layer from Suns of Icarus and began tweaking it to fit. Eventually it turned into a piece depicting a mass exodus of military forces to met an unbeatable alien enemy on a battlefield far away. The men went through the process and preparation only to battle honorably to their defeat and none would return. Again, a reoccuring theme in my work, with the tragic downfall of another great civilization.

My choice in placing the story in the work was brought into question in several comments in the prior release. My reasoning for doing this with Tao as with Romancing the Light is that its seldom that people read the descriptions. ;) I felt it imperative to my work on this piece that the story take presedence.

lol. I can't count how many people commented as such on the prior release. I believe Greg was the only one with the brass to simply say sperm. ;)

I love how each of your pieces has a spectacular backing story to them. Otherwise it would just be another planet scene, albeit a very good one.

Awesome job yet again - it's nice to see a lot of your past works again and the time you put into these images really makes a difference. :)
